Seen & Heard: DT a Model for Digital Transformation![]() German operator Deutsche Telekom was profiled as the ideal model for telco digital transformations in a new report by Strategy Analytics. The Strategy Analytics report said DT's best practices put it squarely down the path to increasing scale and sustainable transformations across its European footprint. Strategy Analytics Inc. took note of DT's Pan-Net project that provides fixed and mobile services across 13 European countries. Pan-Net is replacing 650 legacy platforms with a single infrastructure that is centralized in three data centers. Pan-Net's first real product transition, according to the report, is messaging, which will reduce head count by 70% and opex by 80% by consolidating 33 different messaging platforms from seven vendors onto a single platform. "At DT the process of cultural transformation is taking time to get to the heart of the corporation, but digital transformation is becoming more mainstream," said Strategy Analytics' Phil Kendall, executive director of wireless operator strategies. "The challenge now is to build scale and keep transformation alive, moving and innovative; and to maintain engagement of the team as it moves from pilots to broader integration into everyday business."
