Seen & Heard: Lack of Tech Talent Hamstrings CIOs CIOs from around the globe said that the profound technology skills shortage is preventing them from keeping up with the pace of digital change. In a survey by Harvey Nash and KPMG, 65% of the respondents said a lack of talent would prevent their organizations from keeping up with their digital modernization efforts, which was a 10% increase in just 12 months. For the second-straight year, data analytics was the most in-demand skill at 39%, but the biggest jumps in skill demand year-over-year were digital, which was up 21%, and security, up 17%. In particular, digital and IT strategy skills were the most sought after, according to the survey. The CIOs said their digital transformation efforts were being constrained by the biggest technology skills shortage since the recession in 2008. On the bright side, one in five companies now has a chief digital officer, almost tripling the number since 2014.
