Seen & Heard: DT Takes Deep Dive Into Corporate CultureDeutsche Telekom is putting its own company culture under a microscope to strengthen ethical behavior while fostering a "speak-up" atmosphere in the company. Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT) commissioned the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) and the Hertie School of Governance to conduct a scientific study to take a hard look at its ethical corporate culture. The endgame for Deutsche Telekom is to make its corporate culture more transparent, and to encourage its employees to be more vocal about potential problems. "Establishing what's called a compliance management system is not enough to prevent, investigate and punish rule breaking," said Thomas Kremer, member of the Deutsche Telekom Board of Management for Data Privacy, Legal Affairs and Compliance, in a prepared statement. "An appropriate corporate culture, where employees feel able to speak out against inappropriate behavior, also has a vital role to play." Deutsche Telekom also formed a panel of ethics experts that's comprised of its own employees, researchers and consultants and university professors, according to a story by Telecoms.com. The study will be monitored by an independent expert panel, which will hold its first meeting on Sept. 1, with the results of the study and its recommendations for action slated to be completed by the middle of next year. — Mike Robuck, Editor, Telco Transformation |
