Caption Contest: Birth of a New Era![]() The Robuck has spoken, and his judgement is upon us. The entries have been reviewed, and the winner of last month's caption contest has been duly anointed. What now, you ask? Where do we go from here, after the thrilling highs of inspired ideas, and the crushing lows of that first look at a competitor's caption? Why, on to this month's caption contest, of course! Life must go on, in a constant cycle of birth and rebirth.
This month we are looking at the growing phenomenon of live streaming. That's Facebook Live and Snapchat and Periscope and YouTube Live, and all the other stuff old people like me don't really understand. Will it lead to a more connected society, or are we doomed to forever compromise the here and now with an irresistible urge to broadcast our lives? As usual, first place will receive a $150 Amazon gift card, second a $75 gift card and third a $50 gift card. Registered users can enter as many times as they want in the contest. The contest ends at midnight ET on May 10, and the winners will be announced the following week. This month, we will also welcome stories and anecdotes of people you have come across conducting social media interactions in bizarre situations -- like this ingenious young lady. We would nominate her for the Telco Transformation caption contest -- after all, actions speak louder than words -- but we'd rather spread the wealth, and she's probably a shoo-in for another award altogether. The best entry will get 10 points. What are those points redeemable for, you ask? The answer, my good people, is absolutely nothing! But think of the good karma you will generate from your unselfish, altruistic creativity. Each of these points will grow into thousands of heavenly karmic vouchers in time, just like a lovingly tended hedge fund with a really clever fund manager. *Terms and conditions apply.
