Ariella, interesting quotes.  If they are just quotes and new sales strategy for doing the same old things then I do not believe HPE will achieve its full potential.  A new label on the old model will not position HPE as a leader.  And, as she stated, give them an opportunity to get a running start while Dell/EMC form their new entity.

It will take a truly bold move, indicating willingness to build new capabilities, for me now to be convinced that HPE is going to be a strong competitor in an already crowded field two years from now.

@Dhagar It' sparticularly ironic in light of the statements she made about the huge amount of work that went into separating HP from HPE. She was quoted in ZDNet saying, "'Success in the world favours companies that can invent and reinvent at warp speed,; and given HPE's experience of splitting from HP, she said it is "one of the few companies that can help enterprises navigate to what I call 'The new style of business.'"

Getting dumped is not what most people would wihs to embrace as a new style of business.

Ariella, very true in the transformation to open platforms.  Not only is it a different architecture but it also requires new business models. 

I am really surprised that Meg Whitman didn't jump on the chance to demonstrate new capabilities with HPE and put it on a different course.  Instead, it appears it is focusing on selling what it is developed, not on what it can become.

I think this also shows the struggles that SPs will have in building out their New IP networks. If I recall back to the fall when I interviewed Francisco Javier Ramon Salguero of Telefonica, he said that the lessons they were learning from their NFV PoC for virtual CPE in Brazil was that the proccess has to be as quick and efficient as possible and the suppliers must be ready to engage with them for a long period of time. He also said that they needed to be able to provide SPs with an environment that is consistent and that it was not easy to find that with the technologies that were available: http://www.thenewip.net/video.asp?section_id=303&doc_id=718506

@Carol very true. I was struck by its refusal to cooperate in a program based on an open ecosystem.   You'd think that HPE would have recognized that and the type of cooperation called for. It's also almost ironic because HPE has been touted a number of partnerships of late. But I guess it will only play well with others when it can choose its playmate.

I think this is a cautionary tale for all vendors in the space, not just Hewlett Packard Enterprise. 

These are tricky waters to navigate but unlike in the past, network operators can't afford to hesitate on this transformation process - the competition is too great. They must reshape themselves to be able to innovate more quickly. And their vendors have to be better prepared to help them do that.
