Re: ProGlove - another wearable category?
mhhf1ve, I agree--so far these watches aren't piquing customers' interests...they seem to be dying on the vine so to speak...no one wants to pick them. They just aren't capturing users' attention...but if the advances that you mention were to come to pass, maybe more people would be keen to buy and wear a watch again.  I can definitely say that I'm not ready yet...

Re: ProGlove - another wearable category?
The newer Pebbles come pretty darn close.    Palm did hold its' own for quite some time until Compaq Figured out a way to transform it with the iPAQ..right? The older ones are an "extension" of the Phone--it is when the wearable becomes standalone then we have an opportunity to truly live up to what was envisioned in Star Trek.

Let's stay hopeful.

Re: ProGlove - another wearable category?
Not so sure that the Pebble can do everything the Apple Watch can... but the things the Pebble can't do that the Apple Watch can are probably not really worth doing right now. You can't send haptic messages to other people wearing a Pebble -- but who does that anyway?

Pebble and Apple Watch are still like Newtons and Handspring and Palm Pilots.. not quite ready for mainstream adoption. Sure, there are some tech early adopters who think these are great gadgets, but these things aren't like iPods or iPads. Toddlers and grandparents aren't going to really see the point in wearing a smartwatch right now. Maybe in a few years when the smartwatches have better wireless services and don't need to connect to phones?

I would humbly suggest that they were late into the game as the rise of Pebble clearly shows.    Anything The Watch can do, the Pebble can do--and you may recall Apple wa snot approving Pebble's App for a little while.    I think the NFC Ring (another wearable I am evaluating) will also suffer the same faith.

Wearables have a long way to go for sure. I think Apple has jumped the gun a bit with its watch. I think it's like the Newton. There just isn't enough supporting tech to really make the Apple Watch compelling. Just as the Newton wasn't complete until touchscreens and UI combined into an iPad.

I am having reasonable luck w/my Pebble (and it is a first generation).     We have some room to grow with it--no question.    But fun to be witness to..isn't it?

Sure. I meant that they've "peaked" with hype, not adoption. Surely, smartwatches have a lot more adoption ahead as they get better battery life and actually become useful. (I'm not too keen on needing to re-charge a watch everyday.)

If Siri or other voice-activated services were better, that might also boost the smartwatch usefulness factor, but so far I haven't seen a great reason to start wearing a watch again.

I don't think smart gloves are particularly the next big thing, but maybe headphones? Or a better version of AR glasses that don't look dorky.

Re: ProGlove - another wearable category?
It is interesting that you note that they've "Peaked"--I would argue they are yet to actually gain traction on a broad basis--part of the broad challenge of the so-called "Chasm" that is yet to be crossed.   Apple says its' sales of "Other devices" (which includes the Watch) has had a record sales quarter--but the watch is yet to gain traction....as well as other so-called wearables.    I do note that the move by DT (and I am sure T-Mobile is jumping at the bits) to proceed in a concerted way.

It is a developing story, no question.....

Re: All about resources and mentoring
I add my voice in the clarifications--but I could not help but ask, in what way the positive paradigm shift?  What specific advantages are you seeing?  Hope to see this clarification.

Re: All About Resources
Why won't you believe it to be a "smooth ride"?    It is true that change is never easy--but the opportunity to grow is something that all must be amenable.  Right?
