Re: Network vs. Security
True, good point.

Security really is talked about through and through that I think whatever happens it'll be a huge topic of discussion. It's just a scary thing with everything going digital how easily things can be taken.

I know that businesses take it apon themselves to make sure that security is strong and when moving everything over to digital to have many security back up plans. However, I feel like anyway, it's always possible for an outsider to get it when dealing with digital.

@mpouraryan: That's the nice thing about virtualization.  It helps keep both legacy hardware and whitebox hardware sustainable as the enterprise continues to scale -- at minimal cost.

Re: Network vs. Security
@dlr: I think what did it for me is that security is so prevalent a concern in pretty much everything we have to do these days anyway that it almost doesn't count as an IoT-specific essential.

Capital is essential for IoT as well.  So is electricity.  But those weren't listed as options in the poll, either.  ;)

Re: Network vs. Security
I agree.

Things are going digital. I wonder how long it will take until everything just totally turns digital. Probably not that long. As long as the network can keep up with the trends and what other businesses are doing to stay ahead, I think it'll make the switch to digital smoothly.

Re: Network vs. Security
With how things are proliferating, where do we draw the line, though?    How do we make sure that it is sustainable and strategic?

Re: Network vs. Security
I had the same thought process.

I too voted for network transfomration, but honestly it was a tie between that and security. Security is something that's so important, especially these days. Things can be stolen so easily electronically in today's world.

Everything is going digital, which in a lot of ways is a good thing, I think. Also it gives a huge problem with security because things can be taken that much easier.

Re: Network vs. Security
No matter what option you choose in the poll, security has to remain at the forefront. According to IRTC, there have been over 93 company data breaches many of which are not reported to the media or to the government as required. If your IoT is not secure all the benefits it provides will be lost.

I think in the future they will develop new services for online businesses and companies going into the future. And into today's society more things are going virtual/online so it would help a lot to provide more useful services for people.

Network vs. Security
I gave the edge to network transformation, but for me it's really a virtual tie between that and security concerns.  Security is something that increasingly has to be built in to solutions and networks from the beginning -- especially with IoT.  But the network concerns are so daunting right now, and innovation is very much needed there.
