Re: Report Confirms Digital Transformation Priorities
@freehe, well stated.  In fact, that would make a great survey - how many surveys truly result in change and/or response?

You are right, making them true indications of what the customer wants and then responding and delivering those changes is what truly results in better services.  But it requires leaders and companies to shift their priorities to the customers.  Then even with that new mindset, you have to be able to change the operations and cultures if you are really going to transform the system.  Not easy at all.

Re: Report Confirms Digital Transformation Priorities
Surveys are great but the key is how many responders will actually implement the responses they provided on the survey. Digital transformation is absolutely need to remain competition in any industry but takes strong leadership and skilled employees to make it happen.

Re: Report Confirms Digital Transformation Priorities
afwriter, good points.  Not every company will be able to truly transform to deliver that new value to what the customer wants.

Your example is great with Microsoft - it's great to have the goal, but if you do not complete the transformation and change the system to deliver, it will not be as successful.

Your point about the consumer focus and power makes me think about how powerful the consumer market is - look at what the PC (Bill Gates) did to the computer industry and what Apple (Steve Jobs) delivered.

Re: What about Culture?
agonchar, I fully agree with your identification of culture as being a major issue.  The technology platform provides the capability, but if you don't have the culture to change the systems and truly transform to an environment of adaptabiity - which does subject a company to new risk - the true value will not be realized.

Mike, thanks.

And I like your idea on the poll - that would be a good one.

digital transformation
Almost everthing is going digital and that's a good thing in a way to make some things easier but the downside is that there may be many problems along the way.

What about Culture?
How many of these CSP's can make this transformation journey - with an attitude/culture of "we are too big, too smart to fail" with layer upon layer of management who are more concerned about keeping their jobs rather than really try new approachs, tools etc...

The major TV networks and cable companies are facing the same problem.

There are of course exceptions and those are the ones that will not only survive but flourish.

Corporated decisions are based on stock price and so any short term decline in revenue in order to reposition for the the future is not likely to fly.

I'll see if I can get more details on timing. They said "over the next three years" in the release. I was also thinking we could do something similiar for the next TT poll.

Re: Report Confirms Digital Transformation Priorities
I think that this is absolutely a neccessary transformation and one that will be an ongoing process as consumer needs change.  We have already seen a huge move to digital in media and the trends will only continue to rise as new generations favor tablets and smartphones to big screen TVs and laptop computers.

Windows was one of the first to propose the idea of cross platform access, but never offered any back end support which left their mobile program dead in the water.
