Re: complex Russian mobile services...
@mhhf1ve As inconvenient as that sounds, it almost seems more progressive than in the US, in that they can use multiple SIMS with their phones to access different networks...hasn't it been only fairly recently that wireless carriers needed to allow users to "unlock" devices so they can be used on different networks?  (or am I confusing 2 different issues?)

@freehe  from what I know in Russia you could buy cellphone with option to have install up to three (3) SIM card's to use as separate lines... or even four (4) sims if you have UK model of  LG C299 :)

Re: complex Russian mobile services...
mhhf1ve, Wow, that's seems so counterproductive. Multiple SIMS to use one phone. I am glad I don't live there. It sounds like they need standardization across the industry.

complex Russian mobile services...
Had to look up some basic info on the Russian Federation's wireless industry:

http://archive.is/20160308204228/http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Russian_Federation

So another factor in people there owning multiple SIMs is that there are multiple wireless networks that don't necessarily play well together.. and consumers adapt to the complexity by buying multiple SIMs when they want to commuicate with different places..

Re: What?!? That is a ridiculous stat...
@mhhf1ve  I could only tell you what I know and what my Russian friends told me...

I do not have any friends involve with Russian Mafia to ask them - how they do it???....

as what I know -  to get SIM card in Russia you must present internal passport with Russian propiska seal MVD - ministry of interiour matters in it - showing you residing in the city you buying SIM card in...

but... life in Russia is strange...

Looks like SIM cards are getting even more difficult to buy in Russia...
Hmm. Not just ID cards to purchase a sim card.. but also limits on anonymous and contract-free mobile plans.. How will people circumvent this kind of govt intrusion into privacy?
