The Cloud
I really like what she said about the cloud. That the cloud is basically what's getting the new technology rolling. I think she's absolutley right!

The cloud is moving us towards new technological advances. The cloud also seems to be popping up everywhere. As long as security measures are taken with the cloud, I think it's a great way to move digital transformation into the future.

Re: Cloud Turbo-Charting to Digital Future
@batye, do you see cloud then opening up the digital future because of its ability to reduce both capex and opex costs?  That could be another reason why it is contributing to the move towards the digital future?

Re: Cloud Turbo-Charting to Digital Future
@freehe, great points and good articles overviewing the digital future.

I fully agree that the data and how it is to be used is the key focus for design, and then delivering that to enable the organization to make better decisions.  The cloud and other technology are just tools.  The cloud opens up the opportunities, but you still need to have design/architecture and the data to really deliver value.

Re: Cloud Turbo-Charting to Digital Future
Companies have to determine what data they have and how to use it. I wrote an article about this discussing streaming analytics. Companies also need to build strong infrastructure to support digital operations. The Cloud is not going anywhere anytime soon so companies need to fully embrace it and use it for at least 50% of the business operations and services.

Here is a writeup by Accenture on digital operations https://www.accenture.com/us-en/insight-trends-communications-telco-digital-transformation.aspx.

Re: Cloud Turbo-Charting to Digital Future
Excellent assessment of the evolution to digital/virtualization realities.  That makes sense that the "capacity", with cloud, virtualization, white-box networking, expand the opportunity.

I like Caroline's prediction that there will be some forthcoming models of operations transformation to assist in moving forward.  I think that is one of the keys to true change.
