Re: as technology develops
I would "humbly" suggest that there has to be a "selfish" motive as well because it is simply in the interest of people to be transformational in this respect.   Apple, for instance, noted how it is now 100% Carbon Neutral in China--if this is not transformation--I don't know what is.

Re: as technology develops
As I am "in community" and working on supporting my own network "curation", the official word is out on "iPhone SE".   This is as Apple talked about some interesting strides in Health.   The opportunities are truly limitless as we are witness to the transformation we deliberate here.

Re: as technology develops
@mpouraryan, indeed, to fully realize the potential of innovation will take "sustainable" investments to provide the infrastucture from which even and equitable transformation can truly take place.

Some will invest because of the nobility of the goal, some will see market opportunities (particularly in the undeveloped nations), and some will follow the leaders.

Vision, sharing information and stories about these developments (i.e., Telcotransformation), and good leadership will keep us moving forward!

Re: as technology develops
@mpouraryan, well it truly is impressive.  As we open up the access and people apply technology to problems with new ideas, it truly is exciting to see what can be accomplished through the economics as well as the "connectedness" that can be accomplished.  I share your vision, I believe we are only at the beginning of true innovation.

Happy Spring to you as well!

Re: as technology develops
At the heart of the transformation we are deliberating is indeed the bridging of it--and all seem to recognize it.   Bill Gates (thru his foundation) has made profound strides indeed.   But it is not enough though because we can't seem to keep up.

Re: as technology develops
@mpouraryan, indeed the digital divide is an issue - both in the US as well as globally.  Google & Facebook obviously are recognizing the growth in smartphones and the opportunity for "connecting" through the telcoms, as well as recognizing the future of IoT.  Of course Bill Gates has attempted to make some improvements as well earlier with low cost PC's.  That is why your Kickstarter idea is a great door opener.

I think as the cost of technology continues to go down, and access through devices increases, there is opportunity to further "connect" people at all levels.  I think that is one of the really great contributions that can be made.

If the customer does not matter, then companies have no business to be around as they are.  The Market should not matter--right?

Re: as technology develops
There is a realization of the digital divide that is driving Facebook & Google to help come up with ideas (some of it rather far fetched) to bridge the digital divide.   Where it goes right now is anyone's guess.
