Re: Continued confusion
Chrome Cast is a great concept but I don't see it lasting. Many users are ditching their TVs to watch streaming media on mobile devices.

Also, Google has been known for accessing too much of users' information and capturing user Internet data leaks. Each Google product you download tracks you on whatever device you are using.

In addition, Google Chrome still has security risks. Users will need to implement stricter security using the Chrome Cast app.

The more you get connected the more you need to stay protected!

Re: Continued confusion
Good point!

Yes, this is true it is still a bit confusing. I thought it was a good idea to change the name to something with Google in it so the consumers will know that Google is in fact behind it and that they can trust it & get behind it. However, you are right. They may change the name yet again to become a little more clear about the device.

Re: Name Change
Yes exactly!

It'll be interesting to see where Google takes it. I think it will be able to reach to more cosumers. Good point it could very well be industry related. It's just such a good move on Google's part!

Re: Name Change
@dlr5288 I agree. I'm interested to see how they use it to leverage the google name for branding on the general consumer end, and how they leverage the company's resources (human & financial) as they branch into new areas. I think my initial impression was that it was going to be more granular (e.g., browser, OS, apps, hardware), but now I'm wondering if it is more industry related (e.g., health, transportation)

Re: Name Change
@ms.akkineni They don't even seem to have much information up on their site currently. I'm interested in seeing what they do as well!

Continued confusion
They may have rebranded but it doesn't help them better describe the product offering. They're still calling the audio casting device Chromecast Audio. I think they may end up changing names yet again to better differentiate the products...

Re: Name Change
Yes, agreed!

That's why I think it's such a smart move on their part. Like you said, people who aren't up to date with the new advances wouldn't know or at least recognize their old name, but when they incorporate the Google name into it, it captures the consumer.

Yes, I wonder that too. I do think it was a good idea to branch out that Google name. Just because it's so recognizable.
