Re: Like buttah
You should talk to some musicians to hear what they think about how digital distribution has affected their financial prospects. The point of comparison between video and music is this: When the distribution process is disrupted, there's a very strong chance that value (as in, revenue) will fall out and not be recovered.

I saw a piece this week on giveaways -- the conclusion was that businesses generally don't see any long-term uptick from offering limited-time free samples. So churn away!

Re: Like buttah
Everyone seems to be wanting to get into the OTT bandwagon right now--it is becoming ever so crowded and at times, confusing.    The so-called "Chasm" is yet to be reached as all are trying to figure out how to compete in a "post-cord" world.       As for Music, all I look for is the entertainment and Amazon does a nice job of curating it already.

Re: Like buttah
@mpouraryan I completely agree, the OTT bandwagon is really becoming over-crowded. And some of the other smaller options might actually be viable, I just don't have the ability to check every one, pay for every one, and watch content from every one. So if you're small, and you really only have one or two things I would consider watching, it just isn't going to be worth it to me. Which will just mean another reason to stick with Netflix.

Re: Like buttah
The multitude of channels and choices becomes "mind boggling".    Where content providers focus on is also a challenge too to rise it above it all to be noticed.   Some, though, are losing as epitomized by how the content providers have to adjust to the realities--look at what is going on with Viacom and Dish For instance.

Challenging times indeed.....
