Re: Vodofone
Couldn't agree more!

There are still parts of the US that can't even get internet access - at home or via their phones.

To think there are US residents that are shut off from the opportunites that online marketing, purchasing, connecting, and education is really troublesome to me.

Good Allainace
This allaiance between Huawei and Vodaphone is unquestionably a good one. Jump starting with the first lab with more on IOT services and applications is a very good development. These labs having a pre-integration testing environment is a real bonus in the whole process. Looking forward to hear more as we move along.

Can't agree more with you.

Sometimes we as consumers have apprehensions thinking that moving towards a new invention means buying in more problems and headache. I am not a person that have problems with new technology. But the way things have been is the way our thinking has been lately.

I never deny the value add from the new technical advancements.

Is this lab for consumer applications? It would seem to me the bigger opportunitiy is in industrial use cases for IoT.

Businesses and governments are the ones that are going to be paying big money for the efficiencies that IoT provides. I thihk that the consumer market is a bit saturated right now with products offering little overall benefit even though thet are connected to the internet.

Ouch! Did you have to label all the remotes too? I have family with a serious remote problem like yours. We're down to 3 at home.

Slightly off-topic, agreed. Existing consumer IoT platforms tend to use WiFi, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Z-Wave or other LAN technologies. The emerging NB-IoT technologies - there are a couple - seem more directed toward industrial IoT, at least for now. Fwiw - I've noticed that HVAC techs as a rule dislike Nest and its variants.

Re: Price of Tea in China
I feel your pain. Nothing is more frustrating than when new services or applications don't work the way they are supposed to. We bought a universal remote a few weeks ago, but still had to use the old one to get to the TiVo. Last night we figured out how to get the universal remote to access Tivo DVR recordings. Hopefully we can go from four remotes to one now.

Price of Tea in China
This is really unrelated but...I have a little beef with IoT right now.  I am pretty handy and installed my own smart thermostat last week.  After realizing that it was not working properly I brought in an HVAC expert who after a week told me that it has to be the device itself that is malfuntioning because all of the wiring is good.  I love all of this technology, but the more advanced it is the more of a headache it is when it doesn't work the way it is supposed to be.

Re: Vodofone
This is exciting. I would love to see something like this in the U.S. Other countries are so far advanced. We need to catch up quickly.
