Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
@michelle:  HP downsized even further though   unwinding the merger with Computer Sciences.   Tragic to see such a storied brand wither away as it has.....

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
@mp HP split off into two different companies in 2015. They now have a hardware business and enterprise software business. I think enterprise software is the new hot thing now that we're connecting all manner of objects to a mulitude of networks. GE is doing something similar by selling off appliance businesses and focusing on software.

@faryl Yahoo had a magazine! An actual magazine on paper that was mailed to your office?!

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
That's hilarious!

I remember getting Yahoo! magazine delivered to me at the office back in the 90s with lists of sites to visit.

It may have even been slightly "pre-google" :-)

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
It would seem that AT&T jump into the Yahoo sale has a ton to do with Verizon. I don't think that if Verizon was interested AT&T would be.

However, one has to think that both of these carriers are really interested in the business of supplying contet. Yahoo is a step towards that, and would get a lot more distribution from a AT&T or Verizon owning it.

Right? I feel like we're heading back in the direction of Ma Bell. Except there's a lot more at stake monopoly-wise than just a phone bill.

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
@DH I kinda feel sad for Yahoo similar to the way I felt about Blackberry after the iPhone. I hope this is the right deal for them.

Re: AT&T Kicking the Tires
So very true. With competitors declining that means higher prices for us. That's the problem with big businesses. Competition is cut down so far and the prices sky rocket because of it.
