Re: World SDN Market
@Mike, exciting times!  This is an excellent report.  This again goes to prove that the connected systems are going to lead the way and create their own markets.  The convergence of technologies seems to be having its own compounding affects - Moore's law applied again.

Truly the capabilities of "connected" platforms and the SDN universe are going to be superior - it will be hard to remember pre-SDN times - historic memories!

Re: World SDN Market
@Mike Interesting that this one is projecting into 2022, which is actually 6 years rather than the standard 5. Is there a particular reason for forecasting in that way? I wonder if they jus tlike the number 2022 better than 2021.

Re: World SDN Market
@Ariella, interesting observation.  Maybe they are just extending that view of "connected" technology to "extended/connected" calendars?  Or they have decided they need the full 5 years, as we are 1/2 through 2016 already?  Either way, big goal and indicative of big change!

@DHagar Yes, I do wonder about it, I'm still so used to seeing the projections for 2020.

Margins of error...
Whenever I see predictions of market growth in N years... I wish they'd also report a margin of error. At least admit that these numbers should be taken with a grain of salt -- and estimate how large that chunk of salt should be.

@mhhf1ve Yes, what I'd also really like to see is the follow up of how close or off the mark the predictions proved. But no one seems to follow up in that way.

All the hype is good for business, not to mention it is a sort of self fullfilling prophecy.  If we say it will reach this number then individuals and businesses will spend more to reach said number.

Re: Margins of error...
@afwriter - that was my thought, it was more to drum up business and hype than anything else. Maybe even get people to invest in businesses more to help strengthen the product and business and spread it to more customers. All of course, helping those businesses hit their projected numbers.

@afwriter  interesting observation, but no one knows the future... and the way technology changing rapidly - you never know - how I see it...
