It's like there's a weekly quota for cyber crime! I have seen an increase in these sorts of alerts for my different online accounts.

@DHagar that's a great analogy I haven't heard before. Attack vectors seem to be changing or multiplying every day. It's no surprise to learn businesses aren't prepared for security breaches.

Re: Security will become ever more important...
@dir5288, very true.  Even if they are prepared, they are often prepared for the wrong thing.  Trying to control the environment and prevent attacks is like trying to air condition the outdoors.  The strategy is shifting to layers of security, alerts, and staying ahead of the game.  This is where businesses are truly unprepared.

AT&T Cyber Breaches
Glad AT&T created the report. Many executives and security managers and employees are clueless about how to handle cyber breaches. They usually have to hire a vendor to handle these issues.

Cyber breaches will remain a constant threats as long as companies lack effective security measures. No system will catch all issues but the more security measures put in places the lower the security risk.

Some companies need to do what government agencies do and hire hackers to work on staff.

"For businesses, cyber security attacks are almost inevitable, according to AT&T's latest report."

This is true. Companies also need to constantly educate employees about security risks such as downloading from unknown websites, use shareware or freeware and opening email attachments from unknown sources.

Great points! I agree. I think as technology advances there are only going to be more and more security issues. I think it's necessary for businesses to be as prepared as possible for when these things do happen rather than try to avoid that possibility completely.

@mpouraryan, no fun!  You are having a bad run.  Your point is a good one about business being unprepared.  I believe they are well behind the curve in just good security practices, let alone the proper identification and deployment of effective security designs.

There's lots of work to be done there!

Have a good w/end as well.

@mhhf1ve, great vision.  That makes sense in providing a much higher level of security.

Now you are talking about cognitive tools, which I agree with you will make the other solutions appear less effective.  It makes sense to be able to identify and deploy solutions to "known" threats as opposed to assumptions.

Re: Security will become ever more important...
As I read through the discourse, my response was simply:  No Kidding...Just within the past 72 hours, I had a notice of a security breach at Uber and a phishing attempt from Chase.    It appears that despite that we think about, try and do on our end, we seem to be at the mercy of the businesses that are truly unprepared.....

But we have to maintain hope...is there any other choice?

Onward to the w-end with all the possibilities

:)
