Re: Fiber in his plans
@batye, it's interesting, sometimes it is the player that needs it the most - either with solutions and/or opportunities.  It may be that the developing countries have a greater need and truly succeed with breakthrough transformations.

Re: Geography?
> "Faraday came out with its own offering.."

I saw that CES News.. but also the news that Faraday is having some serious business problems in the background with funding problems and executives leaving the company... So I'm not too optimistic about Faraday competing with Tesla.. And even Tesla is a bit on shakey ground. GM's Bolt beat the Model 3 to market... and we'll see how Tesla can ramp up its production line.

Re: Geography?
@mhhf1ve, very interesting - thanks for sharing!  So you would expect balloons (drones) would be a more feasible low-cost alternative?

Whichever tool is able to provide real-time communication, it seems as if they will have a great opportunity with a hugh market!

@mpouraryan, don't have specific information on Facebook, but an opinion.  I believe they are better suited to new applications than the actual development.  It will be interesting to watch and see, however, if they develop deeper capabilities in this area and become a source.

Re: Geography?
I think VW & Google presented the first car to complete the DARPA Grand Challenge a few years ago at CES.. That was big deal that I think has taken over even more of CES with self-driving cars becoming a huge trend.

Re: Geography?
Since you were nice enough to ask, I view what Lenovo has done to be very interesting (that all can go and check on) as just one example.    I can understand your skepticism, though.

Re: Geography?
Sure. Apple and Microsoft's absence from CES doesn't mean CES isn't important or impactful, but I'm not so sure CES is quite as important as certain press releases make it out to be, either.

Can you name a product or service or concept launched at CES that you think was really important or impactful?

Re: Geography?
Just becasue Apple & Microsoft are not there does not mean that it is not impactful--what is being rolled out, for instance, by the likes of Asus, Lenovo et. al--should give them a moment of pause at least.

Re: Geography?
Is CES still a thing really? I'm thinking Mobile World Congress is a bigger event... CES has spread itself out.. and Apple and Microsoft don't even participate at it.
