The ITU is a UN agency, but describes itself as unique in that it includes private sector members. So the organization includes UN countries, various national regulatory bodies as well as 700 private sector technology companies.

What does the UN have to do with this?  Isn't this more of a private sector kind of thing?  I am sincerely inquisitive if anyone has any insight.
