Re: Security
afwriter, LOL! That is a good solution. That's what most of the main federal government agencies do.

Re: IOT Strategy
@clrmoney, those are key elements.  And if you have top management that buys in and supports that strategy, it will be even more successful.  I firmly believe it won't just evolve, but needs to have a clear focus, design, and operational support, to make it real.

Re: Security
@afwriter, good points.  That is a great analogy.

This is an excellent article in that it makes your points about being not a single design, but engineered applications of technology that come together to serve a purpose or solve a problem.  It truly becomes a system.

The points also about requiring new skills is key to the success of deploying IoT.

Security
I kind of see IoT security like I see mobile security; its never going to be truly secure.  The amount of security you need is also going to be different between a city light system and a home entertainment system.  I think that many companies just need to take the plunge and then pay hackers to find the flaws in their systems.

Re: Poll: People and the IoT
I would say that some progress is being made but there are signifigant gaps.  Companies really need to ramp up because IoT is the future whether they like it or not.

Re: people
I see, so that would be the people working within the company who can gain value from it. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi Ariella. He meant not enough attention to creating the human infrastructure to handle the IoT.
