@batye, thanks!  Hopefully it will convince more operators to work more with partners and truly work with a larger system.

Yeah the reduced cost is a big hit on this one. I really think it's important for cost to be something that the consumers wouldn't mind spending.

Operators Need Open Source Ecosystem Partners
Open Source is a free tool that can provide powerful options for companies. It is a great option for ecosystem partners that can save time and money.

Open source reduce costs, increases flexibility, increase efficiency, reduces time to market. Open sources allows for future growth.

Open source can be used in any industry.

Re: Operators Need Open Source Ecosystem Partners
Wdcawrey, I agree.  I think it has opened up new transformations and advanced opportunities for both operators and technology itself.  It becomes a synergy that develops new opportunities that were not even considered before.

Let's hope the the advancements continue.

Re: Tragedy of commons, Chapter Ten Million
Open source probably cuts down some of the complexity & costs stemming from licensing all that technology as well.

Tragedy of commons, Chapter Ten Million
Open Source partners are of course a free public resource -- and there's never enough of any such thing. Classic case for finding ways to intervene so that more investment can be attracted to open source providers. There are many economic models for doing that, ranging from Brophy's Penny (which supports British free public libraries) to apiary fees (beekeepers move their hives closer to your orchard if you pay them, further away if you don't, and allow continuous open bidding -- it's a good thing bees can navigate to a hive that might move several times in a month!)  I would tend to favor brokerages or exchanges for quality assurance.

Re: Operators Need Open Source Ecosystem Partners
Five years ago, I would not have thought there would be so much interest from the operators for open source. But things change quickly, and it seems today there's no way to build complex systems without some degree of open source. This is a good thing for technology overall.
