Re: DevOps Potholes
No doubt--as long as the 'majors" do not stifle creativity.     That's the danger before us.

Re: DevOps Potholes
@mpouraryan, true.  I think they are finding us in that there is an impressive community with Telco Transformation and the companies that are leading the way (i.e., Huawei, AT&T, Cisco, etc.).  So we are in good company!

And good bloggers!

The challenge is to find the next visionary--which is not easy--is it?

Re: DevOps Potholes
@mpouraryan, good thoughts - that's where leading companies and visionaries come in!  As with anything, you have 1/3 that will be leaders, 1/3 that will join the leaders, and 1/3 that will lag and have to be convinced.

So I believe the leaders will, and are, learning the new opportunities and will transform the processes.  The others will follow and/or lag.

Re: DevOps Potholes
We seem to be "stuck" in neutral, though.  There lies the challenge right now.     How do we sustain the revolutionary spirit that began it all?

Re: Accenture blog nails it.
@mhhf1ve - that is the key!  If it does not deliver value across the board to the users, it will only be a fad.  True change will only come from sustainability.

Re: Reflogging my favorite horse
@JohnBarnes, the advancements in machine learning will also open up the door to new users; like the PC opened the door to new users of computers - beyond the previous use dependent on mainframes.

Which makes us wonder how far the machine intelligence/human intelligence can advance us?

Accenture blog nails it.
> "... Sustainability is key. Too many "dish of the day" methodologies come and go, failing to deliver promised value simply because they are mandated by leadership without understanding how they are embedded into the fabric of "how things are done here"—the culture. ...."

The culture of the organization will trump all. If there's not a tipping point of "devops" people, the fad will come and go -- and revert back to whatever worked "good enough" in the past.

Re: Reflogging my favorite horse
DMHagar, In many ways it is just AI getting more human; instead of a human figuring out the whole task and coding it, the machine just records and copies what the people do until it can do the job by itself. Less and less like programming a machine and more and more like training an apprentice.
