A la carte video is what consumers have been asking for...
But be careful what you ask for.. I think the pendulum might swing too far in the opposite direction and give everyone a more expensive - pay by the show - menu.

It's definitely unclear what the long term strategy is for these services are -- what additional things can Pay-TV providers do with these OTT apps that they can't already do (without the apps)?

Look at, for instance, some of the independent deals Twitter is making with Sports in wanting to "Stream it".    It is admittedly fascinating to be witness to it all--no doubt.

We are reflective of general trends--today's affirmed what was reported as it appears that AT&T Uverse has been the biggest loser of it all.    Fascinating to be witness to it all--isn't it?

I think you can pay for a full season -- instead of per episode? Not sure that it matters much, though... the full season discount probably isn't that significant. (I generally buy episodes in SD instead of HD if I'm feeling miserly....)

Smart monetization of content is at the heart of it--whether they are able to pull it off is another question.    The players seem to continue to be "hopeful" as I just saw on SkyNews that Liberty Media is about to do a 8.5 Billino Deal to buy Formula One (the car racing juggernaut)...just figuring out how to entice the sports fanatics to get on the bandwagon for the mode in and of itself is bound to be exciting to be witness to...right @Adi?

Comcast and other large telco providers have experienced large amounts of churn. This is a way to recoup some of the lost revenue. New products and services as developed based on 80% (how much can we make), 20% (what the customers want or need).
