I really learned a lot about ECOMP through this discussion with AT&T's Mr. Rice. It makes me want to find out more.
Thanks a lot Mark & Chris. each time I learn something new :)
Thanks a lot Mark & Chris. Great session :). - Fawad.
Many thanks, Mike and Chris!
Looks like it was a great show! Sorry I missed the live presentation. Time to listen to the on-demand version...
Thanks again Chris. Have a great day all.
ok folks, only 1 minute left. Thanks for your time today. I enjoyed the conversation with Mike. I hope you enjoyed it as well.
Satisfying customers, keeping up with demand are top priorities, but NVF/SDN are tools to deliver the first two
Down to our last 5 minutes. So final question time.
From below:
Where does virtualization rank within most Tier 1 operators today? Is it their #1 priority, top 3, top 5 or lower?
I think that all steps along the way add value. There may be really good reasosn to build and deploy a gray box.
Chris, do "gray" boxes add any value, or do we just need to move to white boxes?
Mike - CPE use cases --> yes. We do this today with our Network on Demand product. There will definitely be more there.
the only "reluctance" is a "do it right, do it once" requirement; hence, the need for harmonization.
In regards to SDN, do you see more CPE related uses cases going forward? We are moving beyond core with SDN?
Carol -- Tthe reducing friction does resonate with vendors and SPs. You are right, it benefits the whole ecosystem.
creatinga true Network CLoud is a top technical priority...that covers many areas
Satisfying customers, keeping up with demand are top priorities, but NVF/SDN are tools to deliver the first two
Across the broad spectrum of technology initiatives they are working on, I mean.
Chris, do you find the message of "reducing friction" is resonating with vendors, as well as network operators? It seems like something they would embrace. So is there any reluctance?
Where does virtualization rank within most Tier 1 operators today? Is it their #1 priority, top 3, top 5 or lower?
depends....some areas are not ameniable to NFV, but SDN works fine (core routers in the backbone, for instance)....generally, deploy together
Chris, AT&T is past this point, but how would you have answered a few years ago?
Poll time:
How will telcos deploy SDN and NFV in their networks?
A. SDN first
B. NFV first
C. SDN and NFV at the same time
D. No plans in the near term for either
THere is a section on serice deign and creation in our ECOMP whitepaper at www.att.com/ecomp
service desgn and creation -- a data-driven way to do design, based on models (HEAT, YANG, TOSCA), create a catalog of services
Good question Fawad. We'll give Chris time to reply.
thank you for a great info/ideas :)
Chris, Can you talk more about 'Service Design & Creation' function in ECOMP? Whats the vision around that? - Fawad.
Yes, will be on demand later today
Will Chris' chat be recorded and available to listen again?
Ok. Folks. Time for the live questions in a few minutes. Start sending in your questions. I will try to get through as many as I can and those we don't get to on the show, we will try to answer on the post-show chat.
NFV would be our first priority
Chris, please, what about OPNFV ? Linux Project too .. there will be collaboration or .. the better will survive?
So when you launch in OS, will you have community members already and will some of those be other communications service providers?
We would start off with NFV, then move to SDN
Telcos will deploy SDN and NFV with NFV first.

No preso, just audio and chat
Chris, I'd love to know where you are in the open source process.
Google Chrome version 52.0 has great audio.
The audio using Internet Explorer v11.0.3.4 works for me
Trying pressing F5 to refresh your screen if the show hasn't started streaming yet or you are having trouble with the sound.
Good morning all - I watched a baseball game instead.
hallo all ..... there's echo
only for me ?
If you are still having trouble with the sound, try a different browser.
Made it through the whole thing - adult beverage in hand.
Nice to be here; I'm ready to learn new things today!
Good day Robuck and Chris!
Good morning/afternoon everyone! Remember to turn up your volume on the computers. At the top of the hour an audio player will pop up on your screen. If you don't see it, try to press F5 to refresh your screen. Remember, there's no slides for this it's just a discussion, so be sure to post your questions, comments and thoughts on the message boards and we will join you on the chat after the audio stream.
Looking forward to sharing the ECOMP story and the audience discussion today.
Hi, Looking forward to the talk.
I do hope to see more people, more new faces :)
Ontario, NYC, Australia, where else is everyone listening from?
Hi, Looking forward to the talk. Fawad Nazir (Telstra Australia)
We're one hour out. Looking forward to speaking wtih Chris today.
same here - hello to all :)
I'm ready and anxious to hear Chris Rice!
Looking forward to hearing from Mr. Rice.
I can't wait for this webinar.
Hello to all, could not wait to attend...
Greetings & salutations all!
Looking forward, for ECOMP Standardization and Domain 2.0 Standardization.
How to utilize Domain 2.0 and ECOMP as a service launched by opertator and consumed by customers, segment of customer, transformation in services. etc..
Best regards,
Kapil Kushwaha
Looking forward for more information on it. Good day!
Looking forward to hearing from Chris Rice!, should be interesting :)
Can't wait to hear from Chris Rice.
ryukyo02,
By definition "disparate environments" are designed to operate as a fundamentally distinct. Hard to loose what you didn't have :) If anything, we are moving to environments that are allowing us to get out of these silos and allow for future integration and flexibility. Companies are now providing solutions to fit these models as well as providing ways to integrate legacy systems. (If not, they are missing a great opportunity)
Also, Look up MEF 55 ... from a standards perspective this is a model for industry to be MORE compatible and allows the ability to integrate, not only inside a company, but also across various companies/vendors Look at the work being done on the East & West bound interfaces in the standards body LSO Archtecture.... Lots of good stuff being done in these areas.
With all these orchestration models will we lose the ability to integrate disparate environments in the future?
Looking forward to hearing from Chris Rice!
Looking forward to learning about ECOMP.
looking foward to this show!
