Vendorization
I like this idea of "vendorizing". Instead of providers having to start from scratch, if vendors offer great platforms or APIs it really adds a lot of value. I expect to see a lot more of this in the TV and larger video markets.

Re: Vendorization
@afwriter - its an interesting approach, we are seeing more of it now. Comcast is a good - and large - example, licensing its X1 platform to other MSOs. It kind of makes sense. And it does seem that its not primarily for the revenue, but for scale as Huntington describes in the post. Although the revenue doesn't hurt.

Vendorizing Strategy
Love these new words productize and vendorizing. I would love to see this service offered in the U.S. Many consumers need and would appreciate this type of service.

Re: Vendorization
It reminds me of the way cell phone manufacturers license out their different technology to each other to use. There's a lot of revenue to be made in this type of business model (the key is having a solid tracking/reporting system in place to make sure the license agreement terms are being adhered to - there's a lot of potential revenue "leakage" otherwise as well)

Re: Vendorizing Strategy
I agree! I wish it would make it's way over to the US. I think the type of service they're offering would be greatly used by the consumers over here.

I agree -- This is a smart strategy for them. I'm really curious to know if this sort of thing could work in the US.

Re: Vendorization
Cool concept. This gives a good opportunity for service providers across the enterprise to get more advanced in thri own sector without worrying about getting into other things. That makes them specialized in one area so to become Vendor.
