Tier 1 - IT/Network question
The IT/network domain merger looks more definitive than question 1 on Open Source. Tier 1 CSPs drive the business - and you've got almost half of the CSPs in this survey saying it's only a matter of time before the Tier 1s demand it. But that's not necessarily an Open Source verdict, is it?

Re: Tier 1 - IT/Network question
@jbtombes, it does sound like there is progress.  I question, however, how much progress they will be willing to make if they keep the brakes on Open Source.  Sounds as if they are wanting to create the future on what they control - which will not enable them to take advantage of the full opportunities in transformation and new models.

"It's the coming thing but it will never come here"
Funny how often this turns up in tech or biz history: everyone can see how everyone else's industry will be revolutionized by the widespread adoption and deployment of a new technology or approach, but relatively few think it will ever be possible  for their own little corner of their industry. I suppose some changes are easier to imagine happening to whole forests in the distance than they are to the trees right around you.

@jbtombes, I agree, good point about CSPs implementing open source.

Ecosystem Transformation
CSPs question the value of open source although SDN and NFV are key roles in enabling digital transformations, because some CSPs are afraid of the unknown. They are afraid to experiment (R&D) without knowing the impact of using open source.

Using Open Source
Using partners may affect margins and business models. However, each company will have to assess the cost (TCO and ROI) of implementing open source on their own, the timeframe, and the cost of using open source partners to achieve their goals.

The merger of IT and network domains would be interesting.

Cloud-based DSP
Most CSPs have embarked on their respective ecosystem transformations, which will culminate in a new type of service provider: the cloud-based, agile digital service provider (DSP), according to the report.

Interesting concept - cloud based agile digital service provider. Many key words in one phrase - Cloud , Agile and Service Provider.

There are no doubts with Cloud and no one needs any special explanation.

Agaile, ofcourse is very much required for recent approach for any initiative.

Service Provider - is the opensource demand across the globe

All i say is way to go......
