Re: Makes me wonder....
Yes, that quote was exactly what I was thinking! I think the future is so unclear when it comes to technology and it makes the businesses and the customers uneasy and unsure.

Yup, that would be a true concern for the end consumers in long run.

Adi, I dated myself there, but glad you liked it. I saw him at an event in Denver where he got upset at some employees. That left a lasting impression.

I hadn't considered downstream pricing hikes. This could affect consumers n the long run.

Blast from the past...
@Mike - nice one! Laughed out loud when I read the Nacchio line. Hopefully this merger will have nothing to do with creative accounting.

Re: Makes me wonder....
Can't agree more with you.

But unfortunately that is the reality that we are going through these days. Before we digest one big merger, there could be another one surfacing, heading towards beating industry standards in all aspects of history. A scary thought, as that would never let consumer to settle with anything.

Re: Makes me wonder....
@ms. akkineni - I can see their desire to want to be bigger, I just have a hard time backing the idea of companies being so big they control the market. Consequently, I don't really see the trend as good. And definitely scary. Power corrupts and all....

Re: Makes me wonder....
@Michelle - The biggest reason I could see customers noticing a change would be if there was some kind of price increase attached to the changes. If they become more of a monopoly, or if they feel they are stronger because of this that they can choose to increase prices. They could potentially create some kind of technological advance that would separate them from other companies that could also lead to an increase in prices. Though to be fair, techonolgical advances are good for the compan and consumers both.

@Michelle:

Very true. A regular person will only feel the diffrence whenever there is direct or indirect impact. That takes some time while behind the door conversations are shaping

Re: Makes me wonder....
@elizabethv:

I was exactly thinking the same while reading the article.

"Uneasy times ahead and the desire to be "bigger" and "stronger" to help navigate the storm."

We are living in truly uneasy time. Every day/minute is a race for something or the other. What looks and sounds BIG will only remain big not for long. Sometimes it is very difficult to think whether this trend is good or bad, but surely scary,
