Hot and Fresh
Here we go.....with another fresh deal between CL and Level 3 while we are still digesting AT&T and Time Warner.

Sounds very interesting especially if we think about how this deal is adding more weight to CL's stand in the competing business area.

High Speed Data
"The digital economy relies on broadband connectivity, and together with Level 3 we will have one of the most robust fiber network and high-speed data services companies in the world," Post said in a prepared statement.

Isn't this cool? We people are obsessed with high speed data. This sounds promising with robust fiber network and high speed data services. I will stay tuned for more to come in coming days.

Virtualization
Both companies are also big believers in virtualization, but going forward it will be interesting to see how issues such as end-to-end network orchestration and the different use cases for SDN and NFV would play out. (See CenturyLink, Level 3 in Courting Stage.)

Really very good match in terms of common interest in virtualization from both the ends. However I agree that it is worth watching to see both companies working thru their end-to-end network orchestration related challenges.

Re: Virtualization
That was a pretty fast courtship - -almost a whirlwind merger.

Re: Virtualization
My firm will be happy because we use both of them and hopefully the enhanced infrastructure and resources will help boost reliability and connectivity worldwide.  Domestically we don't typically have problems with Level 3 - it is mostly internationally.

@ms.a It sounds like CenturyLink is heading for something even bigger in the future. The Level3 acquisition seems like a big buy. I wonder what else is next.

I'm sure this isn't the last, but I coudn't come up with other companies that might merge. Maybe there's something else out there for Verizon? What about overseas? Liberty Global and John Malone are surely plotting another M&A of some sort.

Yes, what about Verizon? They need more mergers too. I honestly couldn't come up with one company that could merge...

Agree with you both about Verizon. We will all stay tuned to witness more such deals in near future.

Re: Hot and Fresh
@Michelle: There is no doubts about that. That next bigger thing will surely be coming for all os us to follow. But how big will be the key question.
