Re: VR and OTT
Not according to the New York Times! :)   But on a serious note, though, why do you view VR as novelty?   I would suggest AR actually is.

Re: VR and OTT
I hope all have a chance to check this out to get a sense of what is being done: http://www.nytimes.com/marketing/nytvr/

As i noted in a previous comment, I have tested it and it is actually pretty cool.

Re: VR and OTT
VR and AR is part of the broader transformation we're witness to.   We still have ways to go though--the experiment, for instance, by the New York Times to figure out V/R with its' V/R App which I tested last year is an interesting experiment that is yet to bear fruit long-term.

I agree We're just moving into the 5G realm. I think we should focus on that and moving forward with 6G.

Re: VR and OTT
VR has the potential to bring in huge margins for service providers. And that's something they are certainly looking for.

Do I think people are going to start spending tons of time inside VR? No, that's pretty far away. But companies will be able to get people to pay for VR because of the excitement around it, that's for sure!

Technology has indeed come a long way, but we're not quite ready for mobile VR just yet. Maybe when 5G wireless is about to be replaced by 6G wireless tech....

@mhh True. Palm had a good run until Blackberry arrived. The technologies have come a long way. We're going to have some good stories of early tech when we're old and gray!

Well.. Palm Pilots and PDAs and computers and tablet computers were also all novelty gadgets at some point, too. I assume VR will find a use case that kids who aren't born yet will find indispensible. Hopefully, it won't be a virtual world that they'll all live in like the Matrix....
