Re: not listed...
Yes true. Also it would be easy to hack into the online votes. Too much up in the air for this to happen soon..

Re: not listed...
I always thought it would be so much easier for everyone on election day to just go on a computer or phone and vote, but you're right. The problems with that are huge!

Re: not listed...
Fully electronic voting seems to be a perpetual far-off futuristic technology.... I suppose it's harder to figure out voter fraud, and if the machines aren't open source, then the whole democracy thing is owned by a company. I guess paper ballots work well enough, too.

Re: not listed...
@mhhf1ve I know, but I voted in person yesterday and didn't even get a sticker. In my area, we have a kind of combo system. We fill out paper ballots with little ovals and then feed them into a machine that scans them. My daughter -- first time voting -- had some trouble with that, as leaving a little mark on any oval will alert the scanner not to accept.  We used to have the levers and curtains, and I kind of miss those.

Re: not listed...
Electronic voting lacks the physical evidence of "I voted" stickers and a paper trail record with hanging chads. They call it Progress. Get used to it.

I voted with the majority here. I feel deprived. I never got an "I voted" sticker.

mhh: Your point is right on target with the discussion going on presently about my piece on LATAM as a digital transformation leader (link).  When you're an entrenched industry mainstay, digital transformation is hard.  When you're a new player, it's much easier because you can just start out "transformed" for pennies on the dollar.

IoT analogy
Sometime in the past year, there was a study by Xively and Machina Research demonstrating that businesses tended to only turn to IoT not as a cost-savings or efficiency measure, but instead to increase revenue through new business models/monetization schemes.

I suspect the same is true here -- and for most digital transformation efforts.
