Re: Ecosystem Transformation
@Mike, excellent article and outline of the key differences involved with true transformation to an ecosystem - it is different.

It is the new structure that will open up markets, but cannot be established unless, as you point out, there is a laser focus on building these new capabilities and an architectural design to truly build a "system".

It is also interesting that players have not figured out or defined the monetization.  If you cannot define the value, it will certainly be difficult to just add up savings for a valid ROI.

Evolving and changing ecosystem
They said the CSPs need to do better or come up with a solution for a better ecosystem when it comes to virtualization and cloud based technology, so that needs to be resolved.

Re: Evolving and changing ecosystem
We focus on the service providers that are embracing SDN/NFV, etc, but there are large number that are either in wait and see mode, not interested, or, as is the case here, too concerned to jump in now. The ones not interested now are going to get left in dust by their competitors at some point.

Exactly! The economy plays a big part! Also the election. I've noticed that people are spending less this year than others because it was an election year and people are unsure what's to come.

@dlr5288 thank you :) sad reality no one sure anymore of anything and everyone worry about future and when you worry you not thinking about spending - you try to hold on to your money... until you know - things stables... but will ever things be stable... - now... who knows... but please note what ever affects USA do create bigger impact wave in Canada... and we do have a good storm wall... so to say.. in my mind we are in the same boat... with out right to say where we could stear the boat or what directing boat should take :(... as United We Stand :)

Yeah it's crazy, but I guess it makes sense to just lay low and not spend as much because everyone is unsure. Because, in my opinion, having a president as inexperienced as Trump is terrifying.

@dlr5288 thank you :) in my youth days my teacher use to say we could educate our kids as a must and spend money on it or we will be educating kids of our enemies for free... but him and his family came from WestPoint... in my mind for us to survive we must be aware of what others do... and use best ideas and technology in our country :)

It's definitely okay to learn and to be taught new things once you're in the company, but employees do need special talents as each company is different and competitive.

Ecosystem Transformation
CSPs must be motivated to undergo an ecosystem transformation. If they are getting resistance from upper management, that is not good. Also, they need to understand how an ecosystem transformation will impact them, and it appears that few do.

Barriers
The motivation for this article about CSP's is very interesting with 2 large vendors to support their services and applications, i find it very interesting about the new ecosystems that should be the first top priority for CSP's but the barriers have overcome. Its shocing that they need to make cloudifacation, virtualization, and create new software models for hybrids and next-gen networks. I hope this article will explain how it will effect more in the future because that will important to know and read about to everyone beacause it is a interesting topic and a important to know about it.
