Re: Comcast Hoists ONOS, CORD Flags
I agree! I'm very excited to see what Comcast does with this and what other competitors will do to compete with them.

Re: Comcast Hoists ONOS, CORD Flags
I've covered cable for about 15 years and most of them have always been secretive. They do cite competition as the main reason for not saying much, but I've been trying to get Comcast to discuss SDN/NFV for most of this year, including asking Nandiraju to do videos at conferences where he has spoken on panels. I just wanted him to repeat what he had already said on camera, but no go. That's in addition to various story requests as well.

I can't imagine Comcast doing something earth shattering with ONOS and CORD that other SPs aren't doing but I guess we'll see.

Comcast Hoists ONOS, CORD Flags
I find it very interesting with comcast coming to the new announcements that it is the first cable operator to join open source projects. The sources with SCTE are high handling standards with the cable labs with alot of new technology and good specifics. I believe the future in this will really be incredidable and fantastic. I cant wait to see what the future will hod for companies like this will come to. I hope its a big progress in the future.

Re: Comcast Hoists ONOS, CORD Flags
@Joe Stanganelli. Yes, I thought that could be the reason for the secrecy is because Comcast is working on a project. And dang, half a million dollars is a lot to dole out to join those open-source organizations!!

Comcast Hoists ONOS, CORD Flags
As I was reading this I was very shocked because that Comcast was the first cable operator to join open source projects. I always thought that another cable joined open source network but apparently I was incorrect. I wonder what's the next move Comcast or any other cable company going to do with this solution. Can't wait to see the future that hold against the rivals such as AT&T and Verizon's company's. Comcast paid alot of money out just to join ONOS and CORD.

> Comcast forked out $250,000 apiece to join ONOS and CORD, which is the standard amount for both.

Dang.  And now we know why there are so many standards organizations.  There's good money in them!  I oughta start one.

Re: Comcast Hoists ONOS, CORD Flags
@srufolo: Irony aside about the "secre[cy]" involved with partnership with open-source organizations, it may be because they're presently working on a particular project that they're not ready to announce--and they need to make sure that their brand messaging is in sync.
