Re: content
@batye those people with multiple GoPros, do they just upgrade or do they use the three simultaneously? I can see some utility in multiple cameras if you want to make a video that picks up differnt perspectives. It would be more visually interesting than having only one.

Re: content
@Ariella on the other hand is always nice to have the options... in my mind good example of options would be GoPro cameras line from basic SD under $99 to 4K for $500... some people have two or three GoPros... - consumers wanna choices to have... :) human nature...

Re: content
Most of Facebook will be video in 2020? Wow, that's going to make the site even less desirable to visit than it is now!

Really, the photos have been enough. But to see video all the time? We'll see how users feel about that...

@afwriter I'm inclined to agree with you. I think, though, that they may argue for the other side by saying you can't wait to see what people stream; you have to build the platform that will shape what they will want to see.

Re: content
I am wondering if the average YouTube user would even want 4K right now?  I know that I mostly use YouTube to listen to music and I don't need my data taken up by a 4K version of an embarassing '90s song.

I guess what I am saying is that I get what you are saying, but I am not sure that they will come if you build it.  This is a situation where Youtube needs to take a hard look at what content is actually being streamed before they drop cash into 4K.

Re: content
@Ariella - the old "if you build it, they will come" thesis. I guess that is true, and perhaps has to be for a company focused on new technology -- you have to be ahead of the market a little, maybe even try and direct its development if you want to succeed with new technology. And they've certainly got the $$$ to invest, even if its a long game.

Re: content
@afwriter - perhaps you are right - this isn't as much a social media play as a push to live event coverage. The launch of the 4K live streaming service was live streaming the 2016 Game Awards, which would support your argument.

Re: content
We are just at the dawn of 4K and many consumers don't even have devices capable of true 4K yet.  I find it odd that Youtube would make this move, but maybe it has a little to do your everday YouTube star and more to do with the budding original content on Youtube Red.
