Re: An Industry To-Do List for NFV
I agree. I think it goes with every new project that it can either be successful or a total wreck. I do think it will grow and become something big.

How are vendors reacting?
> "Most of the carriers I've talked to really want to avoid vendor lock-in..."

The whitebox trend and the shift towards open solutions is understandable, but how do vendors push back on this? They can offer partially open solutions with proprietary options and features, but will those propretary options provide enough value for carriers to use them? It's hard to be in the business of making commodity hardware....

Re: What to do for NFV
It's all about incremental gains. I think NFV is very much in an incremental stage, that is for sure. You can't expect these deployments to be perfect in the beginning.

None of these technologies ever are when you think about it. Managing expectations from that perspective I think is a good thing, that's for sure.

An Industry To-Do List for NFV
The NFV article talks about the challenges they face with the companies. I can't wait to see where this goes in the future but as they say "they still have mountains to climb." I find it interesting because this can either improve alot or it can go down. I believe it will progress everyday with new ideas and meeting they have.
