Re: VR For TV
@faryl I take it back. "Car 54, Where are You?" could be pretty cool in VR. Also, getting sucked into "I Dream of Jeannie's" bottle could be a real trip. Just like anything else, no telling how vast of an impact something will have. It could go over very well. Who knows? Maybe TVs will be designed especially for it so that headsets will not be necessary.

Yes! The movie theatre idea sounds amazing. I think it's going to be cool to see where exactly this leads.

Re: VR For TV
@srufolo1 - That's actually a really valid point, not all shows are going to be conducive to VR. In fact, I can only really think of a few that might be able to pull it off. Typical comedies really wouldn't fall in those categories. Though a show like Criminal Minds, or CSI might be really cool in VR. At least the possibility would be there - much more so than the Big Bang Theory that is. The more shows you start to think wouldn't be conducive to VR makes you wonder if it would be a worthwhile investment at all.

Re: VR For TV
@elizabethv  I couldn't imagine wearing a headset with toddlers tearing around the house. We're tethered to enough technology in life. Not all shows would be conducive to VR anyway. If I watch TV, I watch vintage shows because I only have a few channels. "Car 54, Where Are You?" in VR? I don't think so.

Re: VR For TV
@srufolo1 - I completely agree with you - wearing a headset is a real turn off for VR where I'm concerned. I barely watch the shows I want to watch on my own as it is, when I watch actual television, more often than not I'm watching kids shows, with my kids. And they aren't just sitting stationary in front of the television. They are playing, and wandering off and trying to kill themselves (small toddlers) so they require me to be paying attention to their activities, no matter what else I may be trying to do. A headset would make that pretty impossible.

Re: Virtual Reality for TV
The movie theater experience sounds interesting. It's perfect for agoraphobic introverts (like me) for getting the experience of watching movies with an audience (for movies like Star Wars or when they have Doctor Who specials in theaters) :) I also like the idea of "going to the movies" with my nephews who live in Boston while I'm in San Diego!

I thought the idea of a pizza box turning into a VR viewer seemed a bit too good to be true! :)

I keep thinking about how much extra it cost for me to get extra remotes for my wii. (And then I'm the only one who uses it!)
