Romes world virtualize
I know with increasing technology that they will have bigger and better things and with them discussing it in Rome is great because its all about business.
SDN/NFV
As the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius famously said: Telcos get into SDN/NFV seeking cost savings but they quickly find that the actual benefit is agility.

The pictures of the city are beautiful and I look forward to hearing more of what came out at the summit, especially the future of 5G.

Re: Pictures
@afwriter, the pictures are incredible! What a great event.
I am looking forward to the updates on 5G as well - and even going beyond to the full concepts of virtualize and transform! I agree with Mitch Wagner that when you focus on the agility, beyond opex savings, you move into totally new capabilities that are exciting.
It looks like this was the place to be!
...
It looks like the 2020 Vision Executive Summit in Rome reallly took everyone back to the "salad days" of digital transformation.

5G Discussion at Executive Summit
@dhagar, @afwriter - we don't report on the sessions themselves (at the Executive Summit). That's another differentiator for the event, and allows our SP attendees to talk more freely. But we do have covereage of the Heavy Reading analyst presentations, including this great write-up by Iain Morris on Light Reading, on Heavy Reading's Gabriel Brown's excellent presentation on 5G at the event.
