Power
The power of the cloud is that it provides a lot more opportunity than what a proprietary datacenter can ever do.

Because of scale, cloud computing will allow companies to be more flexible and efficient than ever before. That's the biggest takeway; it's not a lowering of overall cost.

Cloud network
We use cloud based information for almost everything like data, Internet etc. So I would like to see the next steps of where the cloud goes.

Re: Power
A lot of the times effeciency does lower costs though.  That being said, if something is working to make your life easier you are willing to pay a little more for it.

Re: Power
@afwriter - I completely agree. If something makes your life a little easier, you are willing to pay more for it. The cloud has proved to be one such a benefit that people are willing to pay more for just about anything that uses the cloud. It gives a useful location for memory to go, without customers having to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Re: Power
One example of people paying a lot for cloud services might be Apple's iCloud. When I look at their pricing model, I'm surprised people will pay that much. When Apple first launched this service, I thought it was a stupid idea. Turns out they know a lot more than I do about their customers.

Re: Power
@dcawrey, I agree, many companies rushed to use cloud computing hoping to lower overall costs but cloud computing is just as expensive if not more expensive.

@dcawrey, I felt the same way. I said I am never paying for their cloud service and still won't even if they continue to lower the prices.

Re: Power
@afwriter, I agree but i also think it depends on the product or service.

People are willing to pay for the cloud for their iphone but may not want to pay for the cloud for their smart car.

CT Cloud Computing
It is great that CT gets it and have developed a strategic plan to implement cloud computing.

This seems very doable and a great approach to cloud computing. "There are three major trends. First is building more intelligent networks. Second is collaborating with more industry partners. Third, our business models continue to evolve. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, cost-effective and intelligent information services, offering access anytime, automatic responsiveness and an true-to-life experience."
