New Years outlook for businesses
Both AT&T and Time Warner teaming up and offering pay tv is great so I'm looking to hear about them next year.

Re: New Years outlook for businesses
One "harbinger of progress" for  me is what Amazon is doing with FireTV.   As I was "checking out" FireTV last night, I saw "Amazon Channels" (HBO/Etc.) along with the DirectTV Now App that has popped up right in front of Netflix.  What was interesting to me, though, was what BI intelligence noted on how Netflix continues 2 eat the rest of the players for lunch.   What I have also seen , though, is how SKY (that I am a personal fan of due to its' great coverage of politics in the UK/Brexit, the refugee crisis and the great work Sam Kiley does with the Middle East especially) is how apparently it is suffering the same cord cutting malaise that the rest of the industry is and how Fox plans to mitigate it--wonder if @Adi agrees and provides some guidance on it.

It's great to see a lot of service offerings in the skinny bundle space. I was subscribing to Sling TV, but I canceled it because I thought it was too expensive. I'm really a fair weather TV watcher, so I may switch between services that have the best price and mix of content. I think others will do this as well.

@af Are you switching from traditional cable? Does your cable company increase the price of Internet access when you unbundle services from your cable subscription?

I have direcTV, but my contract (which I was tricked into, long story) is almost up so I will be cutting the cable for good this time.  My internet is through Century Link and my TV is through DTV so I don't forsee my bill changing, however I may be switching internet soon as well. I live in a mediacom area and with their recent news about gig speeds I may be looking into them.

Expect to see a lot of people switching services as there are new offerings all the time.

In the U.S., penetration into markets has already occurred. So the only battle that there is comes from poaching customers.

@dc Looking at it that way, I expect to see serious competition brewing for 2017! Service offerings are very similar so price will make the sales (probably).

Re: New Years outlook for businesses
@Michelle, yes I am with Comcast but every year I call and ask for promotions and specials. I also remind them that I have been a long-time customer and they lower the price for one year. I have been doing this for the past six years.

However, this year it took three phone calls to get the price lowered to the price I wanted. I save $40 a month on my bill.

Persistence is key when negotiating a lower price or for better service.

Re: New Years outlook for businesses
@freehe I didn't even know that was an option! I haven't had cable service in the last 10 years. I'm impressed you've been able to lower your bill just by asking for promotions. Maybe they'll introduce a new pricing structure that keeps your bill at a reasonable rate for longer...

I should start doing that! I've been with Comcast for a while now and I love what they offer, but sometimes the prices kill me!

@dlr5288 You should. Consider yourself lucky that you even have options. Some people are stuck with one provider in their area. That's like contending with the local power utility - not going anywhere.

Good to know your options. I have verizon now for my fios and wifi. But i am with AT&T for my mobiles. I really would like to bring them all together but still not able to close on any one.

Hope to find good match in new year.

@dcawrey, I think that is the best approach to save money because eventually after a year or two each company increases their prices if not on a yearly basis like Comcast.

New Year Predictions
I am waiting for skinny bundles. This is what customers have wanted all along.

I hope the HDTV's do not go away. I wanted to buy another one. I like them and they are cheaper than UHD TVs.

Outlook for businesses in the New Year
Where I live I have the opportunity to choose from 2 different providers.  They are different from the state I grew up in, but it's at least a choose. There are some people that don't have that.  It has some positive opportunities that you are able to compare or hustle between them to get the best promotions for your money.

I did find this article to have some really great informational parts and actually will get people to start thinking about it in 2017

Re: Outlook for businesses in the New Year
@dchampagne70 You are lucky! Some people don't get a choice. I'm hoping that with things like new wireless technologies there may be the ability in the future to have more choices, but we'll see.

It would be nice, becauce competition means consumers end up paying less for services.
