UI Design is a Core Strength: Telefónica's García Calvo
I agree and like this article alot my opinons on this article is that the tv service can be bit better. The technology is great and very up to date so plus. It is very well explained and designed. So ths is a big improvement.

Re: Telefonica Business
As good as they are with website UI (though they're starting to add a bit too much lately - the homepage is crazy cluttered!), they seem to fall short with app UIs. Their iOS & kindle shopping apps seem to fall short - I don't like the way they seems to limit the search results as compared to their website. What I find more surprising is how lousy their kindle store experience when accessed through even their devices. It seems like the options are subcategories that are either weirdly granular, while missing ones that might be useful, or overly general - with no middle ground. (For example, their autobiographies fall under a limited selection specific subjects, or else you're browsing *all* autobiographies). I think Amazon also starts to get confusing because they use the same portal for different subscriptions - so searches bring back a mixture of content that's either free, free for Prime members, available to rent/pay-per-view, or for purchase only. (Though I will that their targeted marketing is eerily spot-on!)

It's so interesting that there is such a huge discrepancy based on the streaming tech/service. (Makes me have a bit of sympathy for the developers though. It must be like having to design websites that work across different browsers, but with many more variations and little control.)

I've not been a fan of Amazon's interface either. If they've improved the roku experience, I may need to try it again though!

Re: Telefonica Business
I would say that Amazon's Prime Video is a bit clunky to use. The biggest problem I have is when I am trying to search. The UI purposely lumps non-Prime video content to induce users to buy. Not a fan of that.

I am a fan of the new show "Goliath" though!

Re: Telefonica Business
Adi, we were accessing Netflix from TiVo, and Amazon, but now we've been using Apple TV. I think there are one or two apps on TiVo that our kids use. (I think we have TiVO Premiere.) I loaded programmer/broadcast apps on Apple TV over the holiday break, but haven't done much with them so far. But they are much easier to find and go in and out of so far.

Re: Telefonica Business
@mike - that's interesting. I was lucky enough to get a trial TiVo back in 1999/2000 when they launched, and the UI was phenomenal. It was the best I had seen at the time.

I have one now, through my MSO, and it's terrible. One of the worst I've ever used. Especially where the integration with other apps, such as the BBC iplayer is concerned. I wonder if Tivo just doesn;t play well with others.

What's your experience been like with the box itself, and any other apps on it?

The UI I currently dislike the most is HBO Go. We get it through TiVo and it's really clunky. Over the holidays I saw it on Apple TV and it was a lot better, but Charter isn't one of the options on Apple TV.

It's consistently surprising to me to hear criticism of Amazon's UI -- and I hear it a lot. This is the company that practically invented smooth, easy website navigation. Amazon has probably done more work on customer profiling and targeting than anyone, I  just find it surprising they haven't been able to nail their video UI.

Re: Telefonica Business
I have been calling on Amazon to update their UI for Prime members for a while now. It was almost unabarable to try to find a movie on their Roku app. Luckily, they have recently did a major overhaul which has made the process a little easier, which makes me more willing to turn to them the next time I am looking for a movie.
