AT&T increasing with Virtualization
"We're now providing ECOMP as the industry standard architecture to have other service providers, other service integrators, adopt worldwide. So that's where we are in the journey.

I am glad that Lopez understand the importance of standardization. It helps to solve a lot of problems and helps improve the industry.

It is exciting that AT&T is making ECOMP an industry standard for other service providers.

Virtualization
"That is going to take us to the next one or two years as we scale Domain 2.0 to 50% plus virtualization."

Going to 50% virtualization i 2017 seems pretty agressive but I would not be surprised if AT&T reaches their goal. They have the resources, technology and skill sets to achieve the goal.

Plug and Play
That is an interesting concept to have plug and play APIs. AT&T continues to prove that they are leader in the technology industry.

Remember when they were use a phone company. Times have definitely changed.

Skill Sets
The industry is changing so rapidly how does one acquire the skills set for SDN, VNF, ECOMP, and NFV? How is AT&T addressing the need for these new skills sets, are they retraining existing employees or firing them and hiring new employees. Curious from an HR perspective how companies are addressing the skill set needs for these new technologies.

Re: AT&T increasing with Virtualization
@dcawrey, excellent point, I totally agree. Companies truly believe that technology will solve all problems but technology cannot solve everything. If we were all robots it might but since we are not, we need more than technology, we need people.

Re: AT&T increasing with Virtualization
He's an interesting guy, to say the least. I enjoy speaking with people in the industry that are so passionate and knowledgeable about their jobs. We do tend to focus too much on the techology and not the people.

Re: AT&T increasing with Virtualization
I really enjoy the part of this article about the leadership stuff. All too often, I think many of us just think technology is going to solve all of our problems when in fact it is going to be people doing that.

This is such a critical thing to keep in mind.
