Being able to have some sort of control over traffic and accidents on the road would be awesome! Hopefully this is something we can achieve in the near future.

@dcawrey, I fully agree. The leadership and political will to make this a priority and lead cities in this new direction - which also includes a more open and transparent environment - begins and ends with political leadership. You won't need the platform to deliver this vision if you do not have successful leadership.

@DHagar You could say that after political will platform would be an important component.
I do think we're going to hear about the politics of these deployments for some time. But once the friction is removed then it will have to do more about platform issues.

Hopefully the smart city project will integrate the apps and create a portal to make frequently used services easier to use for residents that can be accessed anytime anywhere 24/7.

IoT-based services willl provide live traffic updates which can help manage traffic and prevent accidents.
Energy conservation and parking will be helpful to residents and business owners. Smart parking apps will help free up spaces and manage parking and energy conservation will help the environment and help residents save money on utility costs.

I am a little surprised that Dubai didn't implement a smart city project sooner since it spent so much money in other areas.

@Ariella, along with concentrating power to limit the bureacracy, I believe it builds the greater power forces to drive forward with the change and overcome the opposition and complacency that often dooms the change efforts.
