Re: Googling around for stories about what cities are actually doing ....
Ahh thank you for that! Yeah I think to create energy in these new smart cities is going to be a huge task, but it can definitely be done!

One thing I have tried to do is to hook up with this company Arcadia Power that helps promote Wind Energy--check them out--another small way to help create smart cities..and be transformational...as I leave you all w/this to contemplate:

Very true and I agree. I think moving forward with smart cities, clean energy is definitely crucial and will make a huge difference whether people adapt well to smart cities or not.

As we look to April & Q2, it is not just India but China as well--although not necessarily within the scope of our deliberations here, Clean Energy--and I would argue humbly that adoption of clean energy and commitment to it is at the heart of the evolution of Smart Cities--as I look forward to our deliberations in this endeavor.

Very good points! I agree I think if India proceeds in the direction hat they're heading in technology, it will most definitely help other countries move forward.

What you note @JohnBarnes is applicable to the almost 80% of the World right now that does not seem to have the wonders of Technology "trickle down to..".   We have to watch India, though, especially with what it is trying to do to with Digital India--especially now that the Indian Prime Minister is in even a stronger position due to the recent elections.   As India goes in Tech...so goes the World:

Ms. Akkineni

Well, and not just that the pace is very quick now, but that the whole idea of technology-driven change is very new -- it had been going on for about 150 years before anyone began to take note of it, only around 1900.  That's an eyeblink in human cultural development. I would bet that most of the world still expects subconsciously that their grandchildren will live about like they do now -- even when their own lives are very different from their grandparents'.

@JB:

I hear your point. I believe one reason could be because the change is occuring very quick. And everyone is rushing to be part of the change to get to the next change and so forth. Along the way they are losing track and hence not getting good handle at it.

Ms. Akkineni,

Except when they're not! There are some technological developments that look almost exactly like biological evolution, some that look like a single designing mind, some that look like game theory exercises ... I wonder if we'll ever get any real handle on how tech develops, or if it will always be a set of eternal surprises.
