Re: AT&T OSS and BSS
<We are fundamentally shifting the focus of tools from managing the heartbeat, blood pressure and respiration of a black box device to instrumenting how well the overall business or technical function performed across all its resource enablers.
We historically assume all vital organs have been located in the same body. The go-forward model may place the lungs in a location and environment completely different from the heart and circulatory system while making them still appear to be physically connected.>
The choice of human body as an anlogy is interesting, thoughh I'm not sure it's all that helpful. As somoene remarked in a lecture I attended recently, really, there are several parts you can't live without. So you cannot identify just one essential organ to watch. You need your heart, brain, lungs, liver, etc. all to work. And really the measure of pulse, blood pressure, heartbeat etc. is often done just because it is easy monitor in a noninvasive way.

Re: AT&T OSS and BSS
@clrmoney, I agree - it is an excellent model for development. Then I also like that they break it down in the two components but deploy it on a unified platform. I think that is a brilliant design.
They truly have a strong value proposition with their design and services.

AT&T OSS and BSS
I like how they talked about the OSS/BSS two step process like the decompistion of software and refactoring of individual services. So whatever virtual world and cloud can do to make it better and more easier then I'm all for it.
