Re: Yuck!
Yes I agree! I think with big events going on like that r makes sense to do a Facebook live event. However, random people doing it so a total of three people can watch them do boring things doesn't make much sense to me..

Re: Yuck!
@faryl - That's an interesting aspect and I wonder how many people do the same thing - post a video you already took to YouTube. It would also be interesting to see the difference in views when that's done. The difference in effectiveness for people who use Facebook Live, or videos on Facebook in general to generate business. I almost think I might be more inclined to watch a YouTube video, just because it would stand out from the Live videos that I already actively avoid since I know most are just my friends with their MLM business.

Re: Facebook as Goliath
@vnewman - Oh I'm totally in the same situation. I can't get rid of my hotmail and I've had that bad boy since high school! I've slowly tried moving over to my gmail, but my hotmail just hangs in there. I'm almost scared to completely walk away, thinking I've forgotten something crucial that's still being sent there. But I do apply for jobs with my gmail, wouldn't want an potential employer thinking I'm "lame" with my hotmail account. :-)

I will totally judge any company/business that uses hotmail for their email address!

Re: Yuck!
That sounds super-annoying! I like Facebook Live as a way of documenting/sharing an event, but to a controlled audience - for example the Women's March. I'm more likely to upload a video I already took to YouTube though.

Re: Facebook as Goliath
It's funny that you say that @elizabethv, because I can't get rid of my hotmail account to save my life.  I have a gmail account, but too many people continue to use my old hotmail account and I had so many services hooked into it that it persists.

Don't I get some street cred for being an early adopter though?  :)  MSFT had added the outlook.com address to bring us into the 21st century but I don't feel it ever caught on.

At any rate, FB may be grasping at straws trying to compete by getting into the jobs market.  What they do have on their side is the sheer number of registered users.  If they can find a way to capitalize on that, perhaps it is a win.

Re: Facebook as Goliath
I think Facebook needs to realize just who they are. I don't see them being that successful in the job market. It's been a few years now, but I was told most employers won't even entertain a resume with an email address from Hotmail or Yahoo. I can only imagine employers feeling similarly about anything on Facebook. There is really no need to branch out from LinkedIn for employment, they seem to have that field covered pretty well.

Facebook is also trying to one-up LinkedIn by getting into the jobs market - does anyone forsee a buyout of You Tube or LinkedIn?
