NFV: A Catalyst for OSS Transformation
I can say that the  transformation is very good but with the NFV/OSS combining together will be different, I alo think that with the new year is a partnership that will be even more creative with the NFV/OSS. So this i a good idea to me.

I definitely see your point! I think both will be able to survive and continue to grow. Regardless of the other.

@dcawrey, I think you have it right - it gives OSS an opportunity to be an orchestrator - another value-added possibility for them - if they have the vision and leadership to move into that space and guide the navigation.

Re: NFV: Catalyst for Transformation
dcawrey,

I suppose the name might go extinct but I don't see how they can get along without the function. On the other hand some functions become so invisible as the tech advances that no one thinks of them anymore, they're just something that happens in a larger area, and perhaps that's what NFV will do to OSS: cause it to dissolve into larger processes so that no one thinks about it anymore.

Re: NFV: Catalyst for Transformation
Yeah, I wouldn't really expect OSS to go away.

NFV is just going to change things, but I don't think it will make OSS extinct. In fact, it may become a better orchestrator of all these different systems.

Re: NFV: Catalyst for Transformation
@Mike,  that is an exciting breakthrough and opportunity for OSS development.  I think the key you mention is the recognition of refocusing from CAPEX to OPEX - this puts OSS in an entirely different light.

Looking forward to the Radio show tomorrow.

Thanks for keeping us "cutting edge"!

OSS Transformation
Operational Support Systems may be in need of upgraging if it is outdated but it may need to if it's connecting the NFV t o make it valuable and usable.
