Re: OTT
@afwriter Lots of content, but I must say I am struggling with discovery on the service. That I think is becoming the hardest thing.

With so much content, it's really hard to parse through what I really want to watch.

Re: OTT
Netflix also simply has more content than anyone else and they keep pumping out more and more original programming every week. Though they will probably always win with sheer amount of content I would be worried about Amazon when it comes to quality of content. Amazon has some really good original programming coming down the tube.

Re: Netflix
@elizabethv I see. Parental controls on internet won't work for that I guess.

Re: Netflix
@Ariella - it's really a "parenting" reason in that I think the videos it gives my kids access to are absolutely mindless and it's far too easy for my kids to start on videos that I'm okay with them watching, and then having them video jump to the mindless videos I can't stand them watching. And there is absolutely no way (that I've been able to discern) to block those videos from ever crossing my kids path. Even with YouTube Kids. For about a year I wouldn't even let my kids watch YouTube, but then I let my younger son start watching them in a moment of weakness and now he's just as hooked as his brother was at the same age. It's only a matter of time before I just completely block access again. I'd probably like it a lot better if there was some way to "block" a channel.

@dcawrey: Did you end up using Amazon Prime vidoe by accident?  Meaning as a natural consqeunce of having the Prime shipping service?

Re: Netflix
I am not surprised either--but as @vnewman has noted, they're increasingly becoming "One"--but the alternatives will continue to rise up to challenge the players--and NetFlix should truly watch its' back.

Interesting times--as I wish all a Happy Easter.

Re: Netflix
It is getting near impossible to differentiate for all of these services who are now offering almost the same type of skinny bundles for around the same cost (30-40 USD)

In the last month - this has happened:

Verizon signed a deal with Warner Bros. to save its free streaming platform go90 with shows like Veronica Mars and Fringe

Playstation Vue added MLB to its core $35 / month tier

Dish's SlingTV added Showtime to its lineup (which also includes HBO, Cinemax, and Starz) for $30 per month

Seriously, how do you choose?  Do you just start watching 1-2 shows and get roped into the one who offers it?

Re: Netflix
@dcawrey - I can't speak for everyone but here's what my 4 year-old watches on YouTube: Ryan's Toy Review  (which I think is actually called Ryan Toys Review).  People opening "surprise toy eggs."  Clips of Nickelodeon shows like Blaze and The Monster Machines and Paw Patrol.

Here's what I watch: Old MTV music videos
