Cultural Transformation
Someone in the audience pointed out that decentralized populism is more agile, however, AT&T appears to be successful at the centralized approach it is taking in digital transformation through "cultural transformation."
Re: Cultural Transformation
@srufolo1:
Agree with your views about AT&T' s centralization approach towrads digital transformation.

Re: Cultural Transformation
@ms.akkineni It works for AT&T apparently because a centralized analytics team can define the toolsets and make recommendations, according to the article, even if it isn't as agile as the decentralized approach.
Re: Cultural Transformation
@srufolo1:
Absolutely. Being agile with any huge intiatives will only help as quick check points to make sure that the initiative is still appropriate in terms of original approach, because things are changing very rapidly and any company wouldn't need to wait at th end of the tunnel after all the time, cost and effort spent that their approach is out dated.
Re: Cultural Transformation
@ms.akkineni - I completely agree! It's important to always be prepared to change to meet customers needs and demands. Sticking with any idea that just isn't working anymore doesn't benefit anyone.

Re: Cultural Transformation
@elizabethv I could not agree more as this days open mind and flexability is a must as ability for any Co. to survive in ever changing envronment of todays world...
Re: Cultural Transformation
@elizabethv:
That is very true. But this pressure to be up to speed and be rightly aligned to the market trends at the same time is really becoming a great challenge for companies. Most companies now have a dedicated teams that research market trends rigorously and get those aligned with strategy teams.

Re: Cultural Transformation
Pressure to try and keep up and moving forward maybe too quickly can really hurt a company too..
Re: Cultural Transformation
@dlr5288:
Can't agree more with you. We are seeing random companies from time to time vanishing due to this same reason. I would say times are really challenging at present, keeping up to speed so they won't fall behind is very much needed. At the same time they need to watch out around while moving along. I believe companies must be vigilent of market trends and strike the right balance.

Re: Cultural Transformation
You're absolutely right! Keeping th balance between moving fast enough to stay in the game, but taking enough time to produce good products is very difficult.
Re: Cultural Transformation
@dlr5288:
Maintaining that balance without losing the momentum is more challenging than it seems and sounds. But those companies who withstand and maintain that pace and balance at the same are the ones that would surive and do well eventually.

Re: Cultural Transformation
Completely agree! I think keeping that balance can be extremely difficult. However, if companies are able to do it that means success. There's nothing worse than a company pushing out a product super fast and it being useless.
Re: Cultural Transformation
Very true.
If pushing the product out super fast is the only one thing that a company's primary focus, irrespective of market expectations, trend, usbaility then we don't need to debate much about the future of the product and the company as well.

Re: Cultural Transformation
Agreed. It's sad to see some of these companies, that could of been good, die because of the want to push products out the door that weren't ready to go.
Re: Cultural Transformation
I can only guess that it's all the pressure to win or be in the race. The way things are going these days it's all racing.

Re: Cultural Transformation
Oh definitely! They all want to stay in the game and be ahead of everyone, which is important. However, not at the expense of the products.

analytics
I should think that the primary benfit of a centralized analytics team would be that they would likely ensure access to al relevant data and so break through the silos that prevent organiations from obtaining a comprehensive picture that includes all the pieces.
Re: analytics
@Ariella:
Very good analysis. I am seeing many organizations moving towards centralized analytics approach for the same reason.

Re: analytics
Ariella,
Besides the direct silo-breaking, there's also the promotion of simple awareness (anyone who wants to know if a given kind of data is available is going to be able to find out quickly and with minimal effort) and possibly most critically, one-stop shopping -- if it's not in the central repo, it doesn't exist, so you only have to knock on one door.

Re: analytics
@JohnBarnes Absolutely, that ability to knock on a single door makes all the difference.

Constantly changing culturally
Cultural transformation is a data driven change for the people and the organization and is has to be because things are constantly changing and improving for the better.
