Re: Viu might be very shrewd in their choice
John Barnes - Both very important points. Viu is a "freemium" service -- primarily ad-sponsored but with an overlaid pay tier. You can be sure the advertising, merchandising and potential direct e-commerce (buy from the show and bill to Viu) for this show have not gone unexplored.

Viu might be very shrewd in their choice
As noted, Netflix's move into original content was in drama, and Amazon's was automobiles; but at a guess, lifestyle and fashion has several big advantages over either, when you consider that this is aimed at millennials via mobile.  Mainly, if you're trying to reach an audience notorious for its fickle attention via a tiny screen they watch on the go, you want content that can be consumed in very small disconnected pieces, and that's lifestyle and fashion.  Additional benefit: htat's a field where content is already hard to tell from advertising, and that is a commercially valuable kind of confusion.

Re: Viu rising fast
@Adi I agree, it looks like Asia is getting a lot more choices, which is definitely to the advantage of the consumers there.

Viu said they have 6 million users/subscribers that use the service as of March 2010 so just imagine how they will be as time goes on.
