A good friend of mine had a whole set of his online photos stolen -- and used as a dating profile on Match.com. Imagine his surprise when one of his wife's friends recognized him and told his wife about it. He had some explaining to do, but it was obviously a fake profile.

It is a matter of time but the technology will have to be flawless. Can you imagine the Kingsman style mayhem that would happen if there was lag on a diehard fan's screen?

I know exactly which episode you are talking about! I could see that leading to all kinds of problems in the future we already have it with catfishing, Snapchat filters, and people using 10-year-old photos as profiles.

The Jetsons had the right idea. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EwOcT3sK8Eg Maybe augmented reality will be good enough to get beyond the dog ears with tongue hanging out overlays and make more realistic avatars.

Re: Live streaming havng the right technology
Elizabeth V,

Business at ground level, party in the basement has been around for at least forty years -- I suppose it probably has been ever since motion picture cameras.

(The 4-second clip is safe for work but because it's a clip from a pretty raunchy movie, I'd be careful to hit the stop button rather than let YouTube roll you into anything after ...)

@JohnBarnes - I think some people already work to make themselves "business" on top and relaxed on bottom for skype calls. I know I did in an interview for a teaching job once in pajama pants, that were neatly concealed under my desk. :-) Ever since I always wonder if someone else is doing the same.

Re: Live streaming havng the right technology
@mhhf1ve - I would have to agree, it's only a matter of time. Even if it is being done on small scale right now, it isn't really being tested to have a larger load. And I would imagine if 10 million people all jumped on at the same time, there would be issues to say the least. I definitely think it can be done, but it also needs more time for the technology to catch up.

Re: Live streaming havng the right technology
@Adi This is why it would seem the players who can best scale live video don't acutally own the content.

I would argue Facebook, Google and the like would know how to build this, and not the broadcast networks that have ownership over most live content.
