Linux's Cohn: Simplifying Big Data Analytics With Open Source
This is so correct i really enjoyed this. I think this will be great in the near future. I also believe this will help upgrade with the new information they will need to find out and will be awsome to see how this improves in the near future. Which will great for resourses and information they will need to be bnetter than the open sourse itsself.

Re: Simplifying Big Data
Exactly! And it's great if they can simplify things as much as possible and be able to bring multiple things together and have them work well.

Automation, standardization, routinization ...
PNDA is about access rather than innovation -- choosing methods that are well-proven to work fairly well in most cases, making them the defaults, and making them easy to use (in some cases invisible).  This is a common phase in the development of a technology; there was a vast amount of computer lore you had to learn and use all the time if you had a home computer in 1985, for example, and a standard piece of advice at that time was that the first thing to do was to dedicate a weekend afternoon to reading the manual before trying anything hands-on. Large numbers of technical advances have been about having something that "just works."

But that might be a bit ominous for the lower-level IT folk; better upgrade those skills soon, because once the network itself can say "I have unexpected traffic with impending overloads in these areas, click Y to allow me to restructure for better operation", there's not really a job for the person who can recognize an impending overload anymore.

Re: Simplifying Big Data
Good to see Linux active in this space. Big data in particular is a subset of technology that can really benefit from open source.

It's obvious Cohn recognizes that.

@clrmoney that's the idea: making it easier to tap into the benefits of big data tech.
